Friday Five

Five More Photos from April– I know, I know. Another Friday Five photo post, but given it’s the first Friday of the month, I thought I would do a few more photos from April. Next week I’ll get back on the writing train.

I couldn't help myself... it's American Street. How amazing is that?

Tyler entertaining a class of third graders, most questions started like this: ‘Excuse me Mr. Army-man…’ This was a good introduction back into how American kids are compared to Thais

Tuesday Travel Photo

On such a lovely spring day, I feel so appreciative of the changing of seasons from cold to warm. And especially not to be suffering in the nearly unbearable Thai heat in April. Instead I’m stepping my toes into the tentative spring flowers and dreaming of the day I can see the cherry blossoms in full bloom in this beautiful nation’s capital in Washington D.C.

Yeah, I’m getting a little flower obsessed. There will be more pictures of them coming

Friday Five

The sky is amazing here. I loved the way the trees framed the house at the bottom.

Five Photos For October– More nature shots this month as school is out for October!

Getting some fresh air perhaps?

Flowers next to the new running road I found.

Not my student, but I thought her face was so cute when she found out she won.

I’m a sucker for reflective photos.

Five Photos for August

Only in Thailand would a man be dressed up in a recycled materials outfit and paraded around for people to ‘make merit’ and give money

Sunsets and rice fields right in my back yard

Preparing to plant trees for Mother’s Day

Going to miss these kinds of performances at every school function

A Mother’s love is something that crosses all cultural boundaries

Happy Birthday America!

This year’s celebration of America’s birth is quite tame compared to last year. This time last year, Thailand 123 were gathered for the Reconnect conference. They were given the green light for a small celebration for the Fourth of July. All had an obscene amount of fun. This is what happened.

I think they were Seamen?

Rosie the Riveter led the Gay Pride Group

Paul Revere came running to let the Thais know the Americans were coming

An American flag of cupcakes… need I say more?

Abe Lincoln was given a sparkler

We spread our culture and peace at the same time. Shocker.

The whole gang of paraders

What’s the Fourth of July without a little baseball… and PCVs acting scenes out?

We even had a Sparkle Pants something or other beauty pageant, Margie won.

This celebration with my fellow PCVs was awesome, but I think next year I’ll be content to have a good old-fashioned family barbecue with my army brother and my Momma bear.
